Will This Fit My Tractor?

Hedge cutters are a practical solution for maintaining hedges, boundaries, and verges. and in most cases a hedge cutter can be used on a compact tractor. However, stability is more important than engine horsepower. Tyre width, front weights or loaders, and overall tractor balance all play a key role in safe operation. Tractor Size and Weight Matter Most: In general, the wider and heavier the tractor, the better the stability. This is especially important because hedge cutters place a strong sideways load on the machine when working at reach. A tractor that is too narrow or too light may become unstable, even if it has enough power.

Horsepower Is Not the Main Limitation: Horsepower is often misunderstood when it comes to hedge cutters. The hedge cutter hydraulic system is powered by a pump, which is driven by the tractor PTO. As a result, it is the hydraulic pump capacity that matters, not high engine horsepower alone.

Wide turf tyres or wide industrial tyres provide a larger contact area with the ground and can improve balance when using a hedge cutter.
