Refund policy

Last updated: 16th October 2026

This Policy applies to UK purchases from Beckside Machinery Limited, trading as Beckside Machinery (“Seller”). “Goods” means machinery, vehicles, equipment, attachments, parts and related products. A “Consumer Buyer” is an individual purchasing wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.

Nothing in this Policy restricts statutory consumer rights.

1. Consumer Cancellation Rights

1.1 For qualifying online, telephone and other distance purchases, Consumer Buyers may cancel before delivery or within 14 days starting the day after receiving the Goods. For one order delivered in separate items or parts, this period normally starts after the final delivery.

1.2 Cancellation must be communicated clearly by email, telephone or post.

1.3 Unless the Seller has agreed to collect, the Consumer Buyer must send back or hand over the Goods without undue delay and within 14 days after notifying cancellation.

1.4 No additional change-of-mind return period or routine exchange service is offered.

2. Return Transport and Condition

2.1 Consumer Buyers pay the direct cost of non-faulty returns where permitted by law and the required information has been provided before purchase. Free outward delivery does not include free return transport.

2.2 Consumer Buyers may choose and arrange their own suitable return transport. They are not required to use the Seller’s carrier.

2.3 Return costs vary according to the product, collection location and transport requirements. An indicative estimate may be requested before purchase by contacting the Seller with the product details and collection postcode. Where the Seller arranges collection, the charge will be agreed before booking.

2.4 Please contact the Seller for return instructions. Statutory cancellation does not require approval. Goods may be returned by suitable post, courier or freight service, or in person to the address below.

2.5 Pack Goods securely using original packaging or suitable equivalent protection. Original packaging is not a condition of statutory returns. Obtain appropriate transport instructions for machinery containing fuel, oil or batteries.

2.6 Consumer Buyers may inspect Goods as reasonably permitted in a shop. The cancellation period is not a free trial or hire period. Where excessive handling reduces the Goods’ value, the Seller may deduct the actual reduction where lawful, including loss caused by working machinery, alterations such as cutting PTO shafts, damage or missing components. Deductions will be explained and may reach the purchase price where justified.

2.7 Opening, assembling or using Goods does not automatically remove statutory cancellation rights. No fixed restocking or cancellation fee applies to statutory consumer cancellations.

3. Cancellation Refunds

3.1 Valid consumer cancellations will be refunded, including deposits, less lawful deductions. Cancellation of the whole order also includes the standard outward delivery charge paid. Expressly chosen premium delivery supplements are not refunded. No notional delivery charge is deducted where delivery was free.

3.2 Unless the Seller has offered collection, refunds are made without undue delay and within 14 days after receiving the Goods or evidence of dispatch, whichever is earlier. Where collection has been offered, the deadline is 14 days after notification of cancellation.

3.3 Refunds use the original payment method unless expressly agreed otherwise. No refund fee applies.

4. Built-to-Order Goods and Discretionary Returns

4.1 Many products are built to order. Goods genuinely made to a Consumer Buyer’s individual specifications or clearly personalised are excluded from statutory change-of-mind cancellation. Any applicable exclusion will be identified before purchase.

4.2 Standard Goods are not automatically exempt simply because they are built, assembled or ordered from a supplier after an order is placed.

4.3 Where no statutory cancellation or return right applies, non-faulty cancellations and returns are accepted only at the Seller’s discretion and with written agreement.

4.4 Where such a discretionary return is accepted, restocking or handling charges may apply. The Seller may charge up to 25% of the order value attributable to the Goods accepted for return.

4.5 Charges and return transport costs must be agreed in writing before the discretionary return. Consumer charges must be fair, reasonable and lawful. These charges do not apply to statutory consumer cancellations or other legally required remedies.

5. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

5.1 Please report problems promptly, providing proof of purchase, a description and photographs where available. Stop using unsafe Goods or where continued use could worsen damage, and contact the Seller before commissioning repairs. The Seller may reasonably assess Goods to establish the problem and appropriate remedy.

5.2 Consumer Buyers normally have a 30-day right to reject Goods that fail to meet statutory requirements, subject to statutory timing rules. Otherwise, repair or replacement may be required at the Seller’s expense, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience.

5.3 If repair or replacement is unavailable, unsuccessful or not provided as legally required, a price reduction or rejection for a refund may be available.

5.4 The Seller pays reasonable return costs where legally required. Refunds for faulty Goods are made without undue delay and within 14 days after entitlement is agreed. Any deduction for use must be permitted by law.

5.5 These rights also cover used Goods, taking account of age, price, description and disclosed condition. Fair wear and tear and damage caused by misuse, inadequate maintenance or modifications are not covered as inherent faults. Unrelated statutory rights remain unaffected.

5.6 Warranties supplement statutory rights. Neither warranty expiry nor a short damage-reporting deadline removes those rights.

6. Business and In-Person Purchases

6.1 Business Buyers have no consumer cooling-off right. Non-faulty cancellations and returns require written agreement and may attract the charges in Section 4. Faulty or incorrectly supplied business Goods are handled under the applicable contract, warranty and law.

6.2 For contracts concluded in person at the Seller’s premises, no change-of-mind refunds or exchanges are offered. Statutory rights concerning faulty Goods and qualifying off-premises purchases remain unaffected.
